It's been a rough week

As some of you may know I have a disease called bi-polar disorder. I don't like talking about it very much, because I don't want to be labeled as someone who has bi-polar. I just want people to see me and say that's Melissa she is a wonderful person, and not that's Melissa she has a chemical imbalance. This week has been a tough one for me but I just keep telling my self that I'm okay, because I am. I have always been able to keep it under control until the past two years, and that is because we want to try to get pregnant and my medication that I had been on forever and was so good for me is one that you CAN"T be on while you are pregnant. So it's just frustrating to not feel normal, but at the same time I just want to be a mom so if that means I need to be a little crazy for a few months that's okay with me. But I also know I need to be healthy if I want to be a mom. So maybe we will just need to adopt our kids which would be great we just don't have that kind of money. At least I know I have friends and family that are here for me if I need anything. So it's tough but oh well what can you do right?! Just keep swimming!

Have yourself a merry little Christmas

This is mine and David's 3rd Christmas together, and they just keep getting better and better. I love this time of year we get to see our families, we get to give gifts to the ones we love, everyone is so much happier, the music, the lights, the decorations. (I could go on and on about the things I love about Christmas). Christmas day is usually a hectic but fun day. We start out by going to the traditional Bona family Christmas Eve party, then on Christmas day we go to South Jordan to visit my mom, then to my sister's to see my dad and our nieces and nephew, then to Layton to see the Taggart's, then we usually go to David's grandma's house in Ogden. A fun tradition David and I have started is collecting ornaments we get a new one each year I really like this little tradition of ours.

Here are some of the ornaments we've collected over the past 3 years.

I forgot to take the picture of these while they were still on the tree

Makes me happy

The other day David and I decided to go out to dinner. I said I would be like five minutes, I just needed to get some makeup on. He said, "What!? You look gorgeous; you know you don't need to wear makeup all the time." This seriously made my day week. I love him so much!

Pin Crazy

Yes this post is about pinterest.
I joined pinterest about four months ago, and I think I'm obsessed. I have created 16 boards and pinned about 700 things. I wish there was something that showed what the average person pins just to see if I really am obsessed or if I'm just the average pinner. Its just so addicting for me. If I have a free second instead of doing things I should (like cleaning or laundry) I think, no I'll just check pinterest real fast. That never happens I'm usually on there for like and hour at least. Since I've joined pinterest I feel like I've become more creative. I mean there is only so much stuff my little brain can think of so to get all these ideas from other people is just great. I have gotten several new recipes some we will try again and others we won't but at least we tried them. And there are lots of decorating ideas I've gotten, I'm sure I won't even try half of them, but its fun to see how creative people are. Plus just to give you a little idea last year I only blogged like 12 things all year and so far this year I've posted about 30 things to my blog and since April its been maybe 20 posts. Wow that's nuts, maybe I should take a little break from blogger and pinterest. David thinks I'm on there way too much which from that little statistic seems true. I do have a board though that David really likes its my "Stuff to remember if we ever buy a house" (he thinks I should rename it to "Stuff to remember when we buy a house"). Anyways I love pinterest and I should have joined a long time ago. I really wish I had pinterest before I got married because there are some amazing ideas out there.

My three favorite pins are....
#1- I found a really easy way to cook corn on the cob. I use this all the time and its so much easier than the old way. Plus it comes out so juicy! The directions tell you to preheat the oven to 350 mine I preheat for 375. I put mine on a cookie sheet as well just to make it easier to take out of the oven. Cook it for 25-30 minutes, I do at least 30-32 minutes because it gets more tender. You leave the husk on and when you take it out of the oven it just peels right off. That's it, super easy.

#2- I have a pin that gives you an idea for an alphabet of love book. I decided to do this for David's birthday. I tweaked it though from what I pinned, but the idea came from pinterest. I made mine a photo book with words too so not a lot different just a little. It was so much fun for me to make and I'm so excited to give it to him. Plus since I made it I was able to make it more personal, I think he's really going to like it. For some reason N, O and P were the toughest ones for me to think of. The best one I thought of was M- I said for all the Memories we have made, and all the Memories we are going to make.

#3- This one when I told David the idea he loved it. We are going to take the same picture at the same location in the same pose four times. So each season, the difference is the weather your clothes and your hair. The place we David thought of  to take the picture is Ensign Peak (this is where he proposed). The days we are going are August 2nd (so yesterday). November 2nd, February 2nd (this is the day he proposed) and May 2nd. At the end of the four pictures I'm going to print them out and put them in our living room, right now we don't have any pictures on the wall and I couldn't really think of anything to do so this will be perfect.

Just the two of us...

David and I got our pictures taken a few weeks ago and just like most of my posts there is a story behind that. We went to a fundraiser at our church for the YM and YW, and they were doing a silent auction. Well there were several things that I saw that I wanted to bid on, funny thing about that was the fundraiser was almost over so of course I was going to be the highest bidder. David saw what I was doing and made me take my name of a few of the items that I was bidding for. But I still got three things, two Bees Tickets and a photo session. Funny thing about the photo session the girl who took our pictures I went to Junior High with (David thinks I know everyone.) Here are a few of the pictures we had taken enjoy!

The red bridge

This post is more for my enjoyment.
So at Epcot in the Japan pavilion I saw this red bridge. I had to get my picture taken on it, because you see one of my bridal pictures was on this bridge at the International Peace Gardens. Of course I look much better in the one from my bridals but you get the point.

1 year already?!

David & I celebrated our 1 year anniversary on the 13th. We went for a nice breakfast on the 12th to the Little America Steakhouse it was delicious. We went there last year the day after we got married before we left for our honeymoon, so it was nice to be able to go back. And then on Sunday I made a nice pot roast dinner for us it was very good but I must admit the Little America trumped my dinner. It's hard to believe that it's already been a year I feel like I just got married. A lot has happened in that year we both have different jobs, different callings in church, I'm becoming a much better cook, I'm not a virgin anymore...haha that's probably TMI I'll stop there. It's  been wonderful  to be married I'm so much happier than I was before. David has been so good for me he makes me laugh all the time and I'm constantly smiling when he is around. I hope we get the chance to have 50 no make that 100 more anniversaries.

So proud of my hubby!

On April 29th David was ordained a High Priest & he is now the 2nd Counselor in the Bishopric. He had a lot of support from both of our families that day. David's parents and siblings came my parents, grandparents, my sister's family and my aunt came to our sacrament meeting and then stayed to see him be set apart. I am so grateful for our families support. Everyone keeps saying that he is going to be very busy, but he's been the Executive Secretary for the past 3 months so I don't think it could be to much busier than that...at least I hope not. David is a little nervous about it but I think he will do a wonderful job. I love you David and I am so proud of you, you are such a good example for me and I'm so glad to have you in my life.

Friday the 13th....

David and I just got married on May 13Th, which happened to be on Friday the 13Th this year. Most everyone thought we were crazy, but hey if you ask me we couldn't have picked a more beautiful day. Being able to be sealed to David for Time and all Eternity is the greatest feeling ever The weather was gorgeous and the whole day was fantastic! My whole family helped so much it would not have been such a success without them (not just the Bona's but the Taggart's too). I am so greatful to have such a big support system. I am so happy to say that I am now Melissa Rae Taggart (well almost I just need to get a new drivers license and then its official).
Here are a few pictures of the big day:

A very good day....

I was able to go through the Jordan River Temple on Saturday. It was such a great experience. I loved every minute of it and yes I cried like a baby the whole time, but hey thats just the Bona genes in me. I am so lucky to have support from all of my family as well. I am so greatful to have the gospel in my life, I don't know where I would be without it.

Our Journey......

how you met, how long you dated, proposal, wedding details

Here are some more details about the 2 of us. David and I met online on a dating site. I know pretty crazy but hey technology is taking over everything. On our first date we went to Rumbi...which is so delicious. I wasn't sure how that would go but we were there for over an hour just talking but it didn't feel like an hour at all. He was working for the senus during the summer so we couldn't do anything else that night because he had to finish some things up. But since then we have gone on some of the most fun and enjoyable dates. We have been dating since July so almost 8 months now. He proposed on February 2nd so a month ago today! He took me up to Ensign Peak it was a cold Wednesday evening and I was thinking to myself that he better not make me hike it at night or in the cold, but he didn't. It was so beautiful we had a gorgeous view of the whole city it was just perfect. The wedding plans are coming along. My Aunt and one of my cousins are going to do my cake. And one of my Uncles is going to do my picutres. My Dad does calligraphy so he is doing our invitations. We are getting the food from Costco. So I just need to get going on the flowers and decorations. And so far its been so much fun planning everything and I'm just so excited! I'll make sure to keep you all updated with everything.

He is such a gentleman and he treats me so well and is overall a very good influence for me in my life. I love him so much and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him. Plus like I've said before he's a very handsome guy which is a pretty good bonus if you ask me :)

A brief Summary....

I'm finally getting around to updating, like I promised in the previous post. These past few months have been quite interesting and very fun for me! And its also been pretty busy, which is why I haven't had the time to update my blog. I've decided that instead of doing a whole bunch of posts to get updated I'm just going to do it all in one big post, well hopefully not too big. I mean I don't want to bore everyone. The last time I posted on here was about July or August so I figure I'm just going to update month to month.

July:
Back in June or July I had to speak in church. I guess that I did an amazing job! Because a few weeks later they called me in to meet with one of the counselors. He said that after they heard me speak they decided they wanted to give me a calling. The calling they offered me was to be a Sunday School teacher. OK can I just say right now, that has always been my nightmare calling seriously how can I possibly teach about the Book Of Mormon and Bible when I don't even understand them myself. But its been a few months now and they haven't released me yet so I must be doing alright. Also back in July the 13Th to be exact I started dating a great guy, his name is David. We met....online, I still get a little embarrassed saying that. I'm not sure why I just do. He is really such a sweet guy and we have a lot of fun together. He is also really cute so that's a plus.

August:
David's birthday is on August 13Th and I took him out that night for dinner and then went to a movie. After that we went back to his apartment and we talked for a while. And that ended up being the night that we became "official" I guess you could say.

November:
I'm skipping September and October because nothing really "big" happened those months.
In November though I went with David's family to Las Vegas, for his brothers wedding and no he didn't get married in one of the little chapels there it was at the temple. We were on vacation for about a week, we got there on Thursday night. Friday we decided to walk the strip a little, we ended up getting tickets to The Wax Museum and to The Phantom of the Opera. Which oh my heavens was amazing! And Saturday was his brothers wedding, so we were doing wedding stuff all day. Sunday we ended up going to a local church we just went to sacrament but it seemed like a really nice ward. Then that evening me and David drove to Anaheim we had decided that since we were so close we might as well make a stop at Disneyland. And I'm glad we did because it was so much fun. We were only going to stay 2 nights in Anaheim and drive back to Vegas late Tuesday night. Then drive back to Utah on Wednesday. But there was apparently some big storm in Utah so we changed our plans and decided not to come home until Thursday, so we stayed an extra night in Anaheim. We ended up having Thanksgiving dinner with his family in Vegas and we all drove back that day.

December:
This has been a very fun December for me. I always love this time of year but it has been even more fun this year. We went to Winder Dairy at the beginning of the month for scones and hot chocolate after that we went to the Night Before Christmas Street. Which by the way if you haven't seen this you need to check it out for sure. And we went to some other houses to look at lights and in Layton (which is where David grew up) there is a park and they decorate and go all out its super cute. We went to Temple Square to look at the lights. My niece Madison had a Christmas dance performance that we went to. Then David's sister had a choir performance that we went to as well so its just been busy, busy for us. Christmas Eve my family always has a big family get together with the whole extended family which we went to. After we went out to his parents for dinner. Then on Christmas day it was busy for us as well I went over to David's that morning and we exchanged gifts. Then we went to my sister's for breakfast and my dad was there, so we were able to see everyone. And then we went over to my mom's and we saw her side of the family as well. Then we went out to Layton to David's parents and then went over to his grandparents and then over to his sister's. It was a crazy day, but it was a ton of fun!

Well there ya have it folks a little update on my life over the past few months. Thanks for reading!
